A boxer (aka the mayor) thinks he can run Hull's buses.

Crosscountry have unveiled their first refurbed Voyager which in turn has been picked up en-masse by local news sites.

Not sure about the livery, but the interior does like quite smart.

Doesn't this rather fly in the face though of the view that no one will repaint trains into an operator livery now that GBR will be rolled out?

Unless Crosscountry won't be included in GBR, as I think they are still operating under an extension of their franchise rather than a management contract?

With Scotrail and TFW Rail already not being included, this thing could end up looking very watered down.

What you're saying is an understandable assumption but I don't think it was ever the reality. Even Northern, who have been directly controlled by DfT for 5 years now, are still painting trains in a version of the livery from their failed time under Arriva (although they've stopped using the stylised word mark presumably to save a quid or two).

EMR's new and refurbished trains are all coming with their livery and all the TOCs continue manage their own marketing it seems.

Seems very wasteful but I suppose this is just reality of trying to dismantle a network of duplication which always was exactly that.

Was always a waste with signage being replaces and trains being repainted every few years as TOCs rebranded or changed. The old British Rail signage style stayed mostly unchanged for around 40 years, the TOC signage that replaced it after the mid-00s was lucky to last 10% of that.
