Manchester Arndale, Liverpool 1 and one in Newcastle were at least some of them.WillPS wrote: Sat 30 Nov, 2019 09.42 Ah, just 'Mike Ashley lite' then. Kind of figures I guess.
Which Peacocks store was nicer than Primark by the way? The newer ones at the time (I'm thinking Sheffield The Moor which might have only been open a year in total as it closed after the administration) were fairly bland and there were plenty of suburban/country town ones with the purple logo which were knackered (and bland).
Perhaps I just never saw one of the more splendid examples. I know Primark have upped their game considerably in the time since then but I can't ever remember thinking the shops themselves were poor (just the people in them!).

I had no idea Sayers/Poundbakery was in administration.

My nearest BonMarche was one of the stores not saved. Not that I ever saw anyone go into it.
TVF's London Lite.
I don't think people thought they overspent. They were crippled with huge debt taken on during their management buyout but ran at an operating profit.DJDave wrote: Fri 29 Nov, 2019 22.56I know people will say well the old Peacocks was overspending which maybe true
They spent thousands fitting out and moving my local Bonmarche to a new location, only to close it less than 3 months later. If they’re OK with p*****g away money like that, then I’m not surprised at what’s happened.Martin Phillp wrote: Fri 20 Dec, 2019 18.51 My nearest BonMarche was one of the stores not saved. One wonders if this is a rent issue. The question is what happens with their other outlets in Westfield?gottago wrote: Sat 28 Dec, 2019 17.42 Topshop/Man in Westfield Stratford is closing in February. Seems mad that a major, busy store in one of the country's most important shopping centres is closing. I wonder if Arcadia's troubles will be rearing its head again soon.
