Info Screen Thingys... How do you make one?

Hello Metropolites, I'm wanting to make use of some wall mounted displays to quickly display all sorts of company information, latest email, time, news, and take feed from other apps to display diary and booking information etc, all in a visually rich and snazzy manor. However I have no idea what I'm searching for and what to stick in Google to find the right sort of thing. Has anyone ever done something similar, or have any suggestions on how to go about making one?

Panic have an iPad app designed just for this purpose, Status Board. Version 2 was just released last week. I don't use it myself for an actual info screen, but I can tell you that Panic create quality apps for the Mac and iOS.

Late reply, but if you're still interested, the magic words to put into Google are "digital signage".

I use the Open Source Xibo for this at work.
