Yet another Morrisons thread
The Hull Bransholme branch closes down on Sunday. Based on the products they'd run out of and what they had left yesterday, I'd say that they were over ordering on items like Chocolate Chip Cookies (the only M Saver biscuits they weren't sold out of, and it was taking up the entire bottom shelf where the rest of the range used to be) and under ordering on others (meats and cheeses, those sections were largely decimated, with the yogurts and chilled drinks put in part of their space so that the fridge those are usually in could be switched off). It's no wonder they're closing if they couldn't get the stock levels right. The shop was always busy, but I bet customers often left without the items they were looking for, which would explain why it was apparently unprofitable.
But if they'd delivered the correct levels of stock in the past, wouldn't everything be selling out at the same time? The stuff they still have left was evidently over ordered, the stuff that sold out early was understocked. It's simple supply and demand.
The biscuits you mention have a reasonable shelf life though - so they can sit on the shelf for a while and sell slowly. They might have ordered more than required for that store's demand, but they would probably all sell eventually before the expiry/best before date. It's also a pretty small sample to take, it doesn't mean the whole store had poor stock management nor does that mean that was the reason it closed.
It's a different story for meats and cheeses etc. anyway because they have a much shorter shelf life - of course they aren't going to continue to order fresh foods for an imminently closing store so that's why all the stock was gone.

I wonder if Morrisons have considered ditching the marketing agency responsible for their awful ad campaigns. They've sponsored quite a few big ITV entertainment shows but all their stings are bloody horrible. I can't believe they've brought back their patronising Britain's Got Talent campaign where their 'judges' (well, the camp one with some other three who don't do anything) heap praise on their staff for doing some unskilled work like stacking shelves or wrapping up flowers. Shite. Awful. Dross.
Perhaps if they portrayed their supermarkets as being somewhere you'd even vaguely want to visit they wouldn't be in the shithole they're in now. Even Lidl makes you want to go to Lidl these days.

Don't know what you're talking about. Their TV adverts have been really good. Focussing on their fresh produce and the expertise of their staff - what else do you think they should focus on?

My local Morrisons is slowly improving. There are now two self checkout assistants, the uniform shirts have changed to a grass green colour and the misting machine has been dismantled.

My local Morrisons has lost its misting machine in the past couple of week. The self-service till was unusually fast the last time I visited - my Match and More card scanned immediately - though the change came out of the hopper almost burning hot.
For once, it beat my last visit to Tesco, which was blighted by a "Coin Recycler Jam" as it tried to dispense my change.

There appears to be a fault with collecting Match & More £5 vouchers from Morrisons. Earned 5000 points and it didn't print out the voucher despite the printer working properly at the self checkout.
Contacted Morrisons CS who admitted "a glitch" and added another 5000 More points to my card on Thursday. Tried to collect today and nothing printed out, but once again the points have been deducted.
According to my online account, I apparently scanned the card on Friday despite being at home all day!

A new budget brand has been quietly introduced. Market Deals has replaced the own brand Corned Beef which was £1.49 and is now £1.
