I miss Great British Burger.
Food wise, they were almost identical to Wimpy. The burgers were from the same supplier.
Interesting. I must now find a Wimpy.

The old McDonalds "world's heaviest door" they used to have everywhere. Most of which have been replaced by automatic sliders now.
And those awfully drab tiles, with the plastic seat interior. Say what you want about McDonalds but at least they don't look as bad as they used to.

You'd have thought they'd have been more careful to paint out the golden arches. Sheffield's second branch on The Moor closed a year-or-so before I moved to the town. The single branch seems to deal adequately with demand.

Greggs on the other hand now have something like 10 branches within a half mile radius of the Peace Gardens. Seems insane.

The former McDonalds (and now former houseware store) that you talk about on The Moor still has some signs of it's past life, including those old doors in the previous pic, tiled floor, staircase and if you looked carefully inside you could even see where the counter/kitchen and old seating was.

It wouldn't surprise me if they reopen another McDs branch on The Moor (probably a smaller one though) in the next 2/3 years, as Primark are moving up there in 2015 (in the place where that McDonalds currently is I believe!) along with a cinema, new restaurants and no doubt some other new stores tempted in by the new market and upcoming cinema/Primark.

Glasgow has 14 stores in the city centre,

Shops I would bet on is " STORE TWENTY ONE" and Halmark. My local Dorthy Perkins and Burton are closing.

The only one I've known to close was in Bromsgrove about 6 or so years ago. Also the town centre one in Redditch moved over 10 years ago, but this was due to them acquiring a new unit in the extended shopping centre. It's Burger King that seemed to disappear around here.

The Bromsgrove one is now one of Bromsgrove's two YMCA Charity shops, the other being on a retail park just outside the centre.

So it's not just us then. My local YMCA store still has visible Adams Kids branding.

As for McDonald's, I know the Scunthorpe branch closed recently.

Already? It's only been open three months and always seems busy.

I struggle to see how any shop on Oxford Street can fail to be a success with such massive footfall. I can only assume the rents are so sky high that they take a massive chunk out of the profits.

Burtons went from the Trafford Centre a few months ago. Replaced by a Victoria's Secret...

Only because the landlord put the rent up.

Cardiff, Cwmbran and Bristol will happily take the business.

Altrincham used to have a McDonald's in the town centre until the mid 2000's since then they relocated to a retail park about 2/3 miles away and last I checked it still remained boarded up.

Warrington used to have three Burger King's at one point, now we only have one that is located by a busy junction on the M62, so it's not the best one to get to.
