Yet another phone thread

Moto G: 4.5". Has anyone got their hands on one yet? I'm slightly tempted to downgrade my HTC One to it and turn a small profit, simply as I don't care much for the "advanced" features.

Ordered one using my Tesco vouchers this morning. Gonna see how it performs but judging by the reviews it has a decent battery and is fairly speedy.
If it impresses then I'll trade in my Nexus 4 and make a few quid I think, otherwise I'll just return it or sell it on. I don't mind a slight downgrade if the battery is good.

I got mine delivered a couple of days a go and I love it. It's great not having to strain to reach the top of the screen, and the device feels incredibly sturdy despite it being made of plastic and costing so little. The camera does seem genuinely awful but other than that I can't really fault it, the battery is excellent.

I just need one of those nice lemon back covers for it now, purple's not really my colour.

I notice GiffGaff are now doing handsets although are doing it in the style of that o2 two contracts, one bill thing.

Interesting they're going down the P2P lending route. I've always thought people don't really think of a handset-contract purchase as taking out a loan to buy something outright (which of course it is).

Framed in those terms, I wonder how many people will go for it?

A mate of mine has just gone to GiffGaff, who managed to lose his original number in the great PAC divide for over a week.

So much for Ofcom's much quicker number transfers.

They appear to be cheap, but not very cheerful!

The same happened when I moved from Virgin to Vodafone (rue the day!). My impression is that it just happens occasionally. I also strongly suspect O2 manage the transfers - certainly T-Mobile/EE handle them for Virgin.

I note, visiting http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/ now redirects to the EE site and Orange are not accepting new customers online. Wonder if they're planning on killing the legacy brands soon.

I'm surprised to has taken them so long but when I upgraded to the S5 you could still remain on T-Mobile. The cost to buy out your contract is lower if your migrating to EE than remaining on T-Mobile but that is probably due to EE plans costing more.

They've also removed the ability to upgrade through the website, you can only do it via their call centre or in store.

I've noticed with the EE stuff they seem to have killed off a lot of the legacy stuff on the customer side such as the old iphones apps and old account system and started from scratch. Probably a good idea given how shoddy Orange's systems had been for years.
