Thanks :)

It is odd - I wonder if somebody actually from Safeway was working on it?

SirKen from this forum also recently found the Safeway font appearing on cakes in the Co-op: Pic posted on Twitter.

Staying with a Co-op, given Gavin's posting of a refurbed ScotMid. I notice that the one on Saughtonhall Drive in Edinburgh (you can see it from the train going into the city from the West and North) has new signage. Black background with the Scotmid name in white and green. Seems odd, and wonder if this signals a change of look?

Would be quite expensive to roll out I'd imagine for a relatively small chain, especially given updated stores like the one posted above are still in the mainly blue era. The Streetview of the area shows the old frontage, with this pic on their website has the new look in the background. Odd.

EDIT: If I'd actually read Gavin's post I'd have realised that the new black look seems to be being rolled out.

I noticed today that in the papers Sainsbury's have started using a new Live Well For Less logo and I have to say it looks and fits so much better then the old one.

Well apparently there is a new Sainsbury logo due in 2013.

That instantly reminds me of the Safeway swirl, under the logo.

I think this is it. Much nicer than the previous effort, still not as nice as 'making life taste better' though.

Tesco's SEL tickets have ditched the ugly two tone red and blue outline and now sports a much neater thicker blue border.

BTW does anyone else's tesco use their photo shop's large format printer to print homemade big posters for the gondola ends they've not been sent the right official signage for?

Yes - in Sheffield the Phone Shop has created a rather nasty sign that they've been using for what must be years now, covering over a Sony Ericson roller banner (badly).

My local big tesco is currently mid-refurb, which I'm guessing means that everything is going to be cladded in wood. It'll be a shame to see the back of the yellow and red fixtures and fittings. ;)
