Another High Street Rebrand
I've noticed that the Torre LTSB cash machine is now appearing as 'Cash Machine wdl TSB' on the statement, with no reference to Lloyds at all, we can't be far off the rebrand now (just as well, Exeter city centre branch is wearing cardboard 'Temporary Sign' signage held on with plastic straps which looks about ready to fall off!).
New TSB website. Well I'm sure it's a temporary measure.

That's probably not too different to what the last TSB website looked like before the merger.

it's using the older look of the Lloyds TSB website.wells wrote:New TSB website. Well I'm sure it's a temporary measure.

TSB branding guidelines, for fellow logo geeks.

Not quite - it had a bit more in the way of animated GIFs: http://web.archive.org/web/199807032047 ... tsb.co.uk/wells wrote:New TSB website. Well I'm sure it's a temporary measure.

(I like how the PC Banking page just points you towards 'Go TSB' on CompuServe. Was it really £50 a month? Crikey!)
I'm wondering if it's not pence, rather than pounds, seeing as it says additional hours after the first five are 95 an hour, and 95p seems to make much more sense than £95- the symbol before the number's showing up as rather than £ for me (in Firefox), but the 50p a month does seem shockingly cheap, but then £50 seems suprisingly expernsive- £95 an hour after the first 5 even more so! Compuserve didn't use premium rate phone lines, did they? Admittedly, we weren't on the internet until 2000 (and that was the free NTLWorld), so I don't know how much internet access cost in the mid-late 90s.
Ah the animated GIF, that forgotten relic which managed to achieve the dubious honour of making websites look both fancy and tacky at the same time.thegeek wrote:Not quite - it had a bit more in the way of animated GIFs: http://web.archive.org/web/199807032047 ... tsb.co.uk/wells wrote:New TSB website. "Additional time is charged at £95 an hour". Even countered by the fact that it's 'billed per minute', that still means going over your generous 5 hour / month allocation you would be racking up charges at £1.58 / minute - and that's in 1997 money!
How times have changed!
I wonder how many former C&G machines will have cash machines from the off, as two of the branches near to me still don't have any installed. I think I did see one in Bristol with a machine installed though.
Whilst we're on the subject, I've noticed Halifax branches have recently all been getting nice blue signage.

It looks like Argos are going to be trying out a new concept - I was in a branch in London's Old Street yesterday, and they had a recruitment notice on the door, the text of which is also on their jobs site:
They've got the same job ads up online for Chancery Lane, Marble Arch and Old Kent Road.Argos are changing! Our Old Street Store is under going a transformation!
The store will be different from any Argos store you have seen before. It will signal a new phase in our plans to be a digital retail leader. This means we are creating a new shopping experience for customers, and need people who can bring this to life.
Our plans are exciting. We are looking for people who share our passion for serving customers and who are confident using technology.
