Please call it a nice name. A quaker name, perhaps.

Grace, Faith, Hope, Joy, etc.

I am not a quaker, but have always thought them to be really nice. Please do not lumber it with a ridiculously silly name like "Sky" or "Tracey".

Obviously I have worked entirely to the assumption that it is going to be a girl. No idea why.

But please, whatever you do don't name your child after the place where you did it (be it Brooklyn, Paris, Manchester, London or whatever street you live in) or by some stupidly random name like Blanket.

Hmmm, within reason. Of course there's always Myfanwy and Dafydd.

My parents, bless them, gave me a Welsh middle name out of a 1930s film about depression, poverty and disaster. I think I'm named after the sick kid that died.

Saffron?! Think Saffy in Absolutely Fabulous - she wasn't christened that. Although that character has slightly marred the name, and I admit it is a bit *too* posh really. And it wouldn't go with my name.
