I ran memtest, chkdsk and also tested the PSU as suggested. I also refitted the CPU fan and also the memory chip, making sure that all the connections to the hard drive were tight. Seems to have did it, for now.

Often the hard bit when building all or part of a computer is the fault finding. Hopefully it's been resolved.
