Maybe you lot could help me. I tried to register over at TV Forum but have been banned. Asa, who I assume is the person in charge, banned me accusing me of being a previously banned user. But I've never had an account on there in my life.

Long-time lurker/reader but not poster. Some really odd moderation policies.

TV Forum, like Metropol, will have database records of previously registered email addresses (and domains), as well as IP addresses from which individuals have posted; so we certainly wouldn't question Asa or his moderators on the veracity of their information.

As your sole reason for signing up here is to complain about being banned from our sister site, I think its best if we thank you for your comment but decline to grant you continued access.

Digital Spy are there for your telly-chatter though.

I note that the new DG thread is quiet. Perhaps because nobody has yet found any information on his rota.

Has David always posted links in a DVB Cornwall style, or is this a recent development?

Does Sky Idents^W^W edmund really have to post every new video on his site to the relevant megathread as well as his own?

Why does 623058 know all these details about when Central Ident B came onto air? (Did you know, it was used internally for a year, before it got Thatcher's seal of approval, and airing on TV, or something like that...)

It's nice that he strives to make sure these details are correct, but surely he could make better use of his large memory for something else?

It does seem to be a phenomenal amount of time and effort, especially when there's enough research material to complete a couple of dissertations on the subject.

He's straying into volumes of time and motion that could arguably be better served finding a job. He would be actually quite excellent in a microfiche or filing department of a corporate body, I think.

BUT... unlike some others who shall remain nameless, he doesn't sit idle whilst pontificating to others in right-wing rhetoric about the value of money and morals.

So I'm somewhat ambivalent about the whole thing.

I agree with both you and Gav here, it is a lot of time he's exerting into it, smacks very much of nothing better to do, but nobody's perfect!

Off on a tangent but I notice a large proportion of TVF seem to be out of work - this could simply be them making no reference to it - a lot also seem to be without long term partners/spouses but content with knowing when BBC Ident SM2NET4912391203 first was added to the server at White City or how Martin Lambie-Nairn rebranded the BBC in 1997 (And can quote it verbatim and try to apply it to EVERY logotype scenario or to make them seem all knowing on the subject of broadcast design).

I sort of dispair as to why they seem so happy giving university length and grade lectures and pieces on TV pres and living in their own little bubble than contributing to society and earning money - that said I question how they can afford to not work! Makes you wonder if it was another subject what these minds could do!

They live in their bedrooms and know more about the corporations and the management and systems than their own employees do!

I can't co-ordinate my thoughts on it all because I'm too knackered, but it's an interesting observation - especially seeing as Barcode in particular has never lived in England or the Midlands...
