Again, on other forums most people just disappear and don't really come back. Here people for some reason forget about the site for 2 or 3 years and then suddenly start actively posting again.

They've been to jail for stalking news presenters.

Do they just forgot about the site for a year? I haven't really seen this with other forums I frequent.
I do that - I've a total of 315 posts having joined in 2003.

It's mainly because I have only a vaguely passing interest in TV Pres stuff - enough to browse from time to time, but rarely interested enough to contribute to the discussion. I don't have any "insider" knowledge (real or imagined) to contribute, and I'm not (quite) egotistic enough to think that my vague, half-formed opinions on Sky News's new business graphics (or whatever) are of any consequence to anyone.

I only really post if I have a question to ask, or have a direct answer to someone else's reasonable question.

Me too - I don't have much of an interest in TV Pres, but I'm very interested in the technical side. Working in the industry, I do try and add some non-sensitive information where I can - or at least as far as I can be bothered before being shouted down by some spotty teen who knows my job better than me.
I keep an eye on the forum for things that might interest me or things that I can contribute to, but honestly, such instances are getting fewer and further between all the time.

The only monster-thread over there that is interesting me at all at the moment is the Broadcasting House, Salford Quays & TVC thread... and that's starting to get dull!

You'll get some people who'll read posts, but never post themselves. I remember that I did a similar thing (I lurked for quite a few months before joining).

Or, you might get a person who doesn't know they've joined rediscovering the site, only to find the username they use on every other forum is mysteriously already registered, before realising they've registered before.

Try watching tonight's Midlands Today online. That will put my comment in context!

It won't for
a) anyone who doesn't read this thread on a different website
b) anyone who didn't realise you were referring to Midlands Today
c) anyone who wonders what you were talking about tomorrow (after that edition is broadcast)

If you're going to make bizarre posts which only make sense with some context - POST THE BLOOMIN' CONTEXT! It's not difficult.

I can just about forgive the spelling of Layla, but I for one didn't realise that Mr Clapton was Danish....
