that's jumper weather in november. been mostly like that here in the east for a couple of weeks.

maybe i'm seeing the past through rose tinted glasses but i remember during the (early-mid) 1980s the summers were scorching hot. i remember playing in my paddling pool as a boy quite a lot, i also remember the school holidays as being mostly hot and dry too, but august seems to be mostly wet these days. september is warmer and more settled.

i guess what i'm asking.... especially from those of you who have better memories or been around longer than i have is... am i imaginging things? do you think the seasons gradually shifting?

Agreed, Will, but I hate him!

Anyone else spends hundreds or thousands of pounds on equipment and gets some fairly reasonable shots. He just pops out with his phone and takes a couple of amazing snaps.

As to the initial question, I think the memory is always somewhat selective over the weather. I remember all my school summer holidays as never ending sunshine, but I'm sure that wasn't actually the case. Just like any other bad, or not so good, memory, you tend to filter out the rainy days where you just stayed indoors and got into trouble for being where your mother wanted to clean next.

thank you very much gentleman, i'm pretty amazed at just how good the cameras on phones have become recently, certainly up to the spec of a dedicated compact if you can live without a zoom. i love my dslr, but it's a great big thing to lug around.

again, another day (and weekend really) where i went outside in just my jumper, and felt pretty warm.

wasn't it about this time last year we started getting all those hard frosts and sleet?
