I've also noticed a large number of "Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe" pop up locally too, are they unique to where I am or a chain/franchise that popped up over Christmas last.

One has also popped up here, but it's been here longer than last Christmas - two years, maybe?

Those milkshake places where they just blend in chocolate bars with milk are springing up all over the place, I wonder how well they do? The other one I see everywhere is pick and mix nuts/chocolate raisins concessions.
A milkshake bar styled as a 50s American Diner opened where I live last year(ish), and then it decided to diversify into being a Fried Chicken takeaway. It's only open Thursday-Sunday, but you can go in and get a milkshake at 10:30pm on a Friday night, which you can't do at Shakeaway.

The choice of sweets ranges to about 30, but you can have a range of "Mr Moo's" ice creams as the base for it, rather than just vanilla.
