I think they wanted to perforate the torch with holes to save money and settled on a symbolic number of 8000.

Indeedily, a gramatically incorrect tautology. Quite a feat.

You don't perforate with holes; you perforate with a stick, or a pin. Plus once something has been perforated, you don't need to worry about saying it has holes in it!

I think the torch would have looked nice if it was silver. The brass/gold color is just awful.
