Although I was not around as a member during the James Martin furore, I do remember his Boycott Metropol thread with an image with one of those no through signs over the then-current Metro logo.

I thought that I should make a brief opposition to his statements on the thread to hopefully allow for some of the other, less-informed members to know another side of the story. However as I do not really know the full story I thought it wasn't worth trying to explain it in full.

He seems to be a well established member over there now.

The use of "Eire" to describe the Republic of Ireland is archaic now, but I guess it doesn't mean people will still call it that.

Whether or not it's used for political purposes, however, is probably a discussion for another time and place.

NO!

You can only flounce off the forum in a huff when Gavin questions your view. Thems the rules. Sput isn't good enough.

BBC puts Television Centre up for sale

Television Centre became an iconic focal point for the BBC operation.

A figurehead is a nominal leader without real power.

Honestly!

Unless he means it was at the front of the BBC ship, leading the way, as in figurehead "Aa carved wooden decoration found at the prow of ships largely made between the 16th and 19th century."
