So metropollers, what do we think? I still can't see a way that I'd find one useful, but I quite want one now!
Also, I note that the 1st generation is currently £100 off on the Apple Store, if anyone was contemplating it...
iPad 2
Thoroughly underwealming. Today's launch wasn't of a the magical device Jobs claimed to have last year, this is much more of an iPad 1.2 than a whole new device, despite Jobs' claims.
It now makes perfect sense why there was lots of talk about the iPad 3 yesterday, which is apparently being fast-tracked for release in the summer.

I think the iPad 2 would have been a serious contender to the other tablets today if Flash has been in the release. I understand Apple is reluctant/won't put Flash in, but if it did, the device would have the same online capabilities as a BlackBerry Playbook or a Samsung Galaxy Tab. The FaceTime capabilities, which now expand between iPhone, iPod Touch, Mac and iPad will no doubt be a huge success, as will HD video.
The Dual Core Processor will most likely be a kick in the teeth for BlackBerry, as will the new battery. These were two things they were priding themselves on, which are no longer that fantastic features.
I'm not all that fond of the cover idea, bar for making your iPad stand up. Can't really see a businessman using a device with one of these covers. Maybe the beige or black will pass, but these seem to make it more childish.
All in all, today wasn't what I was expecting, even a bit of a disappointment. However, I still want one.

It's the HD to TV side of the device that attracts me. Get some (non flash) HD video coming down the Wifi and that function is a winner, effectively bringing Apple TV on board in one unit.

Could not disagree more about Flash. Having had an HTC Desire for the past year, I've got to say Flash has been an absolute pig. It might just be poor implementation, but I actively avoid it and I'm not convinced it's that great a loss, to be honest.
Knight knight
It was the National Enquirer reporting doctors who have never treated Jobs responding to a photo of someone looking a bit haggard. Plus it was quoted by the Daily Mail. Tells you all you need to know.Beep wrote:Respect for Jobs for doing that, considering he only has 4 weeks left (pancreatic cancer) [don't know if the rumours were true]
