I'm pretty sure we had these at The Entertainer, and they worked okay on the NT4 based tills we used there. Driver support for W2K/NT5 is the same right?

is it due to parallel ports or something absurd like that?
Well I didn't think so, but...

The printer came with a strange proprietary port, and two "options" for converting that port: one gizmo which turned it into a USB port, and one which turned it into a Parallel port.

It was then that I broke RULE NUMBER ONE OF TECHNOLOGY: I tossed the parallel converter in the trash!

Weeks pass (as you know), and thence hours of fiddling about with ancient computers ensue and the computer keeps wanting to know which LPT port it's plugged in to. I can find no reference to USB ports whatsoever.

I feel it must be possible to sort it out with a USB port but I have a nasty feeling it will involve "virtual parallel ports" and that kind of guff.
