How fab.
Oh yes, so it is 8-) Have you downloaded it yet? Looking on the AndroidForums it doesn't look like there's been any problems with those who've got it so far.

Trip to local Wifi providing pub for me tomorrow then

Currently trying to free up space, which it only told me about after downloading and trying to install. Say what you will about iPhones, they put you through less faff.

How much space do you need to free up? I don't have that much installed and it sometimes complains that it is low on space... which is why I want O2 to get their act together and release the Froyo update so I can move some apps to the SD card.

25mb in the Phone memory. I had a couple big-ish games installed.

It is now upgraded. Higher plane of existence attained etc.

Stupid question but where did you find this update?

Yes, I had the same problem. Managed to find somewhere to download it on Wifi and then decided to do the install itself at home but was then told I didn't have enough space left to install. It did ask me if I wanted to install again after I'd deleted a few apps but that prompt won't appear now so I'll have to start all over again.

I wonder where it puts the 89M download before installing? If it has room for that surely it can find 25 for the install!

I don't seem to have that many apps installed but always seem short of space on the phone. I've ditched a load of texts which helped a bit. The File Manager app I have seems to think I have 4 copies of Google Maps but that can't be right

Mine started complaining about lack of space the other week too. I got round it by clearing out a load of text messages, especially MMS picture messages.

It's not easy to do on the messages app unless you set a limit and let it auto delete but there are a few simple apps for easily deleting texts

It's in the Market, though I don't know why the app doesn't indicate an available update like the others do. It's Facebook for Android and when you download it, it will indicate that your existing app will update and your user settings kept.

I updated after reading this yesterday (using Settings > About phone > System software updates), luckily read sput's post in time to delete angry birds as the update was downloading so I had enough space.

Now, browsing on the eeepc, connected to my mobile wifi hotspot and generally very impressed! Speed seems excellent, voice recognition much better than I'd expected and glad I've finally been able to move a load of apps to the memory card!

Finally managed to install 2.2 last night. All pretty straightforward and so far I'm impressed.

I had to get to delete some apps to make room for the update but then once everything was done I had 20meg more space. I dunno whether this is because it's cleaned out some caches in the process or whether 2.2 is just smaller

FriendStream and Peep can now handle Twitter again and there's a new Google News and weather app/widget which I've used to replace the rather ropey default news widget. The Google Voice Search app has disappeared as it has been integrated into the main search software. Move apps to the SD card works well, as does moving them back again if need be.

The Wifi hotspot works great, although I'm not sure when I'd use it, the same goes for speech to text message. One niggle that they've fixed is in the messaging app where you can now delete and lock multiple messages in a long conversation without it pinging back to the end after every one. Videos have also been moved out of photos

T-Mobile have added a couple of bits of software - 'Top Apps' which is just some apps reccommended by T, and MobilBox Pro which is a visual voicemail app. Unfortunately the latter sends you to a German language website for information! (I think you need to pay extra for it too)

It's nice to be able to free up some space on the phone memory, not only is there the bonus space and the ability to move apps to card but the update has eliminated the need for the Twitter App, Voice Search and SMS Quick Delete

EDIT: just remembered, I installed Chrome to Phone last night too and it's excellent

One tip I have read is to be careful which apps you move to SD card as you won't be able to use them when your phone is mounted to a computer as 'Disk Drive'. I'd have thought that Media players are a good thing to move over if you can because the media is normally stored on your SD card anyway
