I saw that but it was a bit vague. I assume you can select to have the update once you're in reliable 3G reception or wifi with mains power or plenty of battery. Based on my experience, I'd take the update when its offered. Although it was a good thing I didn't get that bogus Vodafone-riddled branding update, I never had the option to after clicking the Home key (instead of Download). The Voda handsets have the update option removed - so as long as you're within 3G or wifi then grab it.

Hoping it will come through this weekend. That's what I've been reading. Looks really good, too.

Do they not have the 'Check Now' button in Settings => About Phone => System Software Updates ?

EDIT: HEY! There's an option now. I *swear* that wasn't there before.

Anyway it says, "no updates available".

I was lucky enough to get a debranded Legend the first time around, but after its repair, all the Vodafone bloatware has been put back on. Very tempted to root it, but knowing me, I'll get it wrong and break it.

Froyo is apparently coming to the Legend in October, so I'm very excited for that.

What sort of stuff does Vodaphone put on their HTC phones. I've got a branded T-Mobile Desire and the only branded thing seems to be the boot up screen... don't even have a logo on the case

A music store, a pointless Web application, a lot of bookmarks like Flirtomatic or something, and a few background apps. They just look messy and slow it down.

Well 2.2 (FroYo) arrived this morning as a 90mb download.

Handset seems faster. Text messages have an attachment button as well as the "send" button (which doesn't say "send" anymore).

Still trying to find other things that are new. There's a "Videos" player program in the apps list - I think that's new.

Thought it was supposed to have some 3D effect menu?

I, err.. didn't bother.

I clicked "download via wifi only", and it commenced while I was in the house, pausing on the walk to work, and then finished when I arrived within range of the office wireless.

Asked me to confirm installation, and then it turned itself off and on a couple of times and that was that. Took five mins, with a handy wee status bar to show me it was still installing.
