If its make it any better, Some of the voters seems to misguide aswell, as one lady ask Nick clegg in Glasgow this evening and nick had to say I really have any say in education up here.

What was he actually talking about? I can't seem to find a video of his speech, only the tedious protest people. I would very much appreciate a bit more detail than simply "English issues," was he talking about Education and Health or example?

Just out of interest - does anybody believe that, if the Conservatives win the election, George Osborne will become Chancellor? I can't help but wonder how they'd have done if they'd have ditched him in favour of Ken Clarke during the campaign - he would have certainly made a better job of the Chancellors' Debate and saved them from the claims of inexperience from the other parties.

The Tories campaigning in Scotland is fairly pointless most of the time anyway because, just like many working-class areas in England, whenever Cameron opens his mouth, all anybody thinks is, "THATCHER THATCHER THATCHER THATCHER....". He's fighting a losing battle before he's even begun because people simply can't forget the eighties, and some (particularly in my hometown) were so entrenched and unionised that Thatcher's 'bring it on' mentality, coupled with the need to desperately claw back the country after Labour's disastrous term, left a very bitter aftertaste.
Coincidentally, during the last week all three of the would-be chancellors have been very quiet. Darling was talking yesterday but apart from that they seem to have been absent almost entirely - back to their individual constituencies, I suppose.
He was talking about health and education he also talked about the "labour Lies" leaflet how the Tories would kill of the bus pass, free prescriptions, free eye tests ext for oaps. Yet the last two are free to everyone up here, and he has no control over any of them. Yet the leaflets have not come north of the border.Hymagumba wrote:What was he actually talking about? It sounded like every other speech he's made, he made no attempt to localise it.
For 10 years the Tories have been segmental in the polls 16%: up here, have there tried to change the mentally not really, with the Scottish party try as had as possible to keep it self at arms length of the UK party .
You cant ley all the blame at the Scottish people for not liking them, yes some people are like that and will not forgot about the 80's Saying that Dockyards in the 90's still got DC boo and hissed at.
The UK Tories have made an effort, and try and change the views of us up here and last nights speech by DC where he mainly talks about English policies, in Scottish setting, sums up what most are still think of the Toires, There dont care about our views up here... and will continual to stomp all over us.
The situation is diabolical. However, Nick Clegg has said that as the Conservative party has the most votes and seats, they have the clearest mandate to seek to form a government. I think we're probably looking at a minority Conservative government supported by the confidence of the Liberal Democrats. The Conservatives may have to promise a referendum on proportional representation in return, but they can campaign against PR at the time.

A Con Lib coalition seems alien to me. I can see no common ground there at all. What would Nick Clegg's role be ? A cabinet position presumably ?
Whether it goes ConLib or LibLab I think we'll probably see Vince Cable as Chancellor.

Firslty: Its the best result possible, Labour was going to lose either way, but It stop the tories having full control, and we might get better goverement with this result, but the best thing was the fact the TORIES got GUMPED! big style in Scotland, labour vote went up!Isonstine wrote:Why?
