It's a well known fact, Hospital and Internet Radio hosts are all jumped up and see themselves above their station, sort of like PCSOs. Nice of you to follow in the footsteps of James Martin.
Slush beep, people who don't spend their time thinking they are important because people in the media occasionally humour them are talking.

I like what you've done there. ;)

It's a bit of a brash generalisation, but I'd agree anyone in radio has something of an ego. It's also worth remembering most people working in commercial radio today started at a voluntary level.

From my experience most people in radio do it for the love of it, whether they get paid or not. This is shown through the strong community radio movement in this country, frequently with double-figure numbers of applications per license awarded. Similarly (while I would agree a lot of Hospital jocks are washed up or bitter) Hospital presenters also do it for the love of the medium.

My personal hero is Johnnie Walker, who literally went to the ends of the earth for his art. He gave up pay rises and comfort to drive across America in a clapped out motorhome to present on San Francisco radio. The man's a legend. If anyone has a right to an ego, it's him. Does he have one? Probably, but he's not jumped up or arrogant.

As for ego itself, well it's like anything - if you're skilled at what you do and you have the ability to carry it off, then fair play. You don't get anywhere in media, or life in general, through overt modesty. Knowing your voice and the songs you play is being heard by a large number of people gives you a buzz and excitement that I didn't even get when I was a keyboard player in a band.

I do it for the love of it. I do it for the buzz, I do it because radio is my passion. I can imagine people like Allan Lake and James Martin do it for the ego. God knows the Max Johnson and Brett McLaughlins of this world do too. Course there are bad apples. I don't think I'm one of them....I hope I'm not anyway.

I'm with Beep.

Who does Alexia think he is, CHANGING THE RULES of April fools day just because he hosts internet radio. What a fucking liberty.
Ronnie is victorious, vivacious in victory like a venomous dog. Vile Republicans cease living while the religious retort with rueful rhetoric. These rank thugs resort to violence and swear revenge.

But Ronnie can punch through steel so they lose anyway.

Someone has informed me what seems to be the problem......

He too happy for the polls, that why he needs to go to Specsavers, NOT because he blind in eye, is that all you can think about with brown. I forgot all about his blindness in one eye, when I did this, there also a David C one.
