I've been listening to this station for the past two days, mainly Steve Lamacq's show from 4.00pm. It's a refreshing change to Radio 1 and Radio 2. I think the main difference is the music playlist - no top 40 hits or tunes from the 80s, mainly up and coming artists that I've heard so far, but I might hear songs from the BBC's collection from the past 40 years as they tell me if I listen to other shows. When it launched in 2002 many people were annoyed that it wasn't on FM as many people didn't have digital radios, although you could listen to it online and through satellite/DTT.

There is one little thing that annoys me - the station title on digital radio is 'BBC Radio 6Music', yet the station is actually called 'BBC 6 Music'. I know the logo has 'BBC Radio' in it but I thought at least the Beeb themselves would get it right!

but was that not to make the stations appear in the right order on the DAB radios?

Well BBC 7 is certainly now BBC Radio 7 - perhaps the same change is gradually happening at 6.

TSK at the rumours about its closure in The Times. This is one of those stations that the majestic free market really doesn't have time for, so it seems like ideal PSB to me.

These are the same rumours that have been flying round for several months now, and have been mentioned by Broadcast, Guardian et.al before Murdoch's dirty rag got its "exclusive."

6Music and 7 were amongst the biggest winners in the recent RAJARS

PS - Tsk also at BBC News Channel for using the new Asian network logo but the OLD 6Music logo in its interview just now.

Seems the Tories have had a change of heart over 6Music now they realise that lots of voters like it!
