It's Snowing!

I attempted to descend the ladder and see if the ice would take my weight (I was going to hold onto the ladder, mind) but the CEO's PA came running out and complained.

No fun! Doing that is probably less dangerous than trying to walk on some of the pavements around here.

There was a horribly moany article in today's Metro about how people were ignoring health and safety by walking on ice, picking on some mother whose daughter went to a private school (which I'm sure was just coincidental to the fact that they chose to pick on her...). They then had pictures of youths jumping up and down on the ice and somebody trying to crack it with a big stick. Moan, moan, moan about how dangerous this was, and how damaging this was to not only their own lives, but to the lives of others, and then the final sentence came: the ice was obviously thick enough, as nobody was able to crack it. So no problem then....

I've just been round to get some salt to put on the road outside the house from one of the yellow bins (it's been empty all week but when filled there was a flurry of activity and communication like there would have been in the 1970s Soviet Union when bread was delivered) but when I got there I found that it has now been filled with sharp grit, not road salt.

I didn't think we would have a salt shortage as one of the UK's main salt mines is in south Antrim but it seems to be running low here too now.

i liked the special little hole for the dog's winkle. i wouldn't fancy the job of getting him in/out of the jacket... in my experience dogs manage to piss on just about anything like that, however improbable.



it looks slightly deceptive on the picture, but this snowman was over 2m high, feck knows how they got the other ball on top.

Got about a foot of snow last night. I was sat in bed with a cuppa tea and slice of toast at 5am watching it, it was also thunder and lightening too. I've never witnesssed thunder and lightening during a snow storm before.

I was in a meeting the other day and can tell you that these are convective snow showers (as oppposed to frontal earlier on) so they've got the same basic mechanism as thunderstorms. In fact they're the same as thunderstorms, it's just cold

a strange phenomena here in norfolk; frost on everything but the ground.

first thing this morning you could see the ice crystals floating around in the fog, it was quite beautiful.

We had more snow this morning. Not that much but more than there appears to be at the Winter Olympics.

Snowing here in my particular part of the region - a lot actually and settling well.

Just glad I'm not having to get to or from work, or deal with the morons who insist on asking "Is the train from Reading to Bournemouth still running" as a result of a bit of snow elsewhere in the country. Actually I won't answer that one...
