don't know if anybody has been following 'project needlemouse', but it looks like sega are working on a true sequel to the original 16bit sonic the hedgehog games which appeared on the sega megadrive.

i used to play those first 3 original sonic games a lot with my friends when i was a kid and, as sad as it sounds, am quite looking forward to this next instalment. i still play them from time to time along with the original super mario world on the snes which was great - i can't be arsed with these new games, can't see the appeal of those brown first person shooters on the xbox360/ps3.

so anybody else a closet sonic fan or retro games fan in general?

Been following this on the US Sega blog for the last few weeks. Was a huge fan of Sonic on the Mega Drive/Master System but never really got into any of the other games. I played the demo of the latest one which seemed OK (not fantastic) in the 2D sections, apparently there was some weird Were-hog thing going on in it though which sounds absurd.

Will probably get this on Day 1, wish it was a physical copy though. I would've liked some nice cover-art.
By all accounts it's going to be released as a download on the PS3/Xbox in HiDef, as well as on the Wii and iPhone.

Nice to see that more games in the same vein are planned as this is only Sonic 4: Episode 1
