I bought a little netbook that I think is fab for when I'm away from home. I don't think I'd want an iPad, I don't see why it isn't just a netbook with no keyboard. As well as being a kinda handy thing to type on, a keyboard supports a screen at a nice angle to look at. If you're sitting this thing on a desk or on your knee is it not going to be uncomfortable to have at a reasonable working angle?

Truth is I actually wrote £699 at first and then thought "nah - that's not going to be a mass seller".

But then, as Charlie Brooker pointed out, the media reports on there being a fuss which generates a fuss - and suddenly the price becomes irrelevant.

It is very much a Star Trek PADD (personal access display device), and they looked comfortable to hold - as far as a prop can.
