Five days of constant snow / sleet expected in Newport.

Goody.

The BBC seems to think it can snow when the temperature is above freezing. They forecast heavy snow with a big white blob covering my area last night, but there was also a weather symbol that said 2°c. Of course snowfall isn't possible at that temperature so it didn't come. It rained instead.

Thank you for saving me a longer rant, Andrew.

As I read Chie's post, I was thinking "what an anagram of carp pours from the lips of idiots".

Well ok, but it did rain and it's still raining now, so the BBC Weather was wrong.

I think we can forgive them a minor error in prediction.

But don't let let that sidetrack you from trying to use it to gloss over your major mis-statement of fact in the original.

Oh no, sorry, but that's what you always do, isn't it?

If I'd had a QI type klaxon to show "commonly misunderstood 'facts' by those too lazy to check" then I would have, erm, klaxoned it.

I feel cheated. The snow the SE had before christmas didn't really amount to much in Dover and Folkestone. I took the day off as the traffic was gridlocked into Dover thanks to Eurostar, the docks and a bus driving into the back of a lorry, not to mention a 4 hr powercut to add to the traffic misery. I would have thouroughly enjoyed the day off but there wasn't enough snow to play.
Looks like we're not going to get snow over the new year either. It's so unfair. I might buy a holiday home in Scotland for the winter.
