What's with all these old ads coming back - milky way, toys r us, lego, cadbury's?

2000: The decade of nostalgia?

Nostalgia goes like that.

For the creatives of today, Toys R Us is *old*.

For the likes of me, its more like Cinzano ads with Leonard Rossiter.

QuickQuid (advance payday loans) are offering an APR of 2356%.

And then go on to say they're "committed to responsible lending"!

From their website, a cut+paste FAIL:

"Due to the upcoming banking holiday, all requests to make changes for loans due on 29 Dec, 2009 must be received by 14:30 on 23 Dec, 2009.
All loans approved after 14:30 GMT on 24 Dec, 2009 will generally be funded on 29 Dec, 2009. We will be closed 31 August 2009 and will resume our normal working hours on 1 September 2009. "

I don't normally mind the iPhone adverts, but the 12 days of Christmas advert is way too much of that smug voiceover man in one helping to tolerate!

Dale Winton's doing a cash my gold ad! I think it's funny how they've obviously tried to make this one look a bit more sophisticated by setting it in a posh location, yet they didn't bother to change the tacky Wordart-style text.

I'm not keen on the lottery scratchcard advert which shows vast quantities of money pouring out of various places. It's a bit vulgar in these times, really.

On a positive note, I absolutely love the Gucci by Gucci advert. :)

Hardly. Vulgarity would be someone already rich lighting a cigar with a tenner.

It's supposed to be aspirational.

I find it confusing though. The ad is about buying someone a scratchcard as a gift for Christmas. Why would anyone aspire to do that? I'd be narked if I bought someone a scratchcard and they went and won £500, let alone a million. Can you imagine.

I saw a new Crunchy Nut advert this lunchtime which is just mortifying. I can't believe an advertising agency actually thought that would be a good idea.
