It's Snowing!

We had terrible snow Friday night and yesterday, and the council didn't seem to bother gritting anywhere, not even major roads. We had no bus service whatsoever and then all the train tracks froze last night resulting in a 4 hour train journey for me between Hull and Scarborough. Nightmare.

I was surprised to fling open the curtains just now and find manchester city centre with a reasonable covering of the white stuff. My favourite thing about it is that I can see the upmarket shops from my kitchen, and the rich morons haven't really thought this through. They think their horrid Ugg boots are going to be alright and let me tell you: they are not :)

Well I've been out for a very VERY easy christmas shop because the snow has kept people away in droves on the last weekend before the big day. Here's the result of my wander (obviously the majority had people being shot so I had to exclude those to placate Beep)

Lovely set of pictures there.

In my traditional counterpointing style, I'm annoyed to report blazing sunshine in South Wales. If anyone would care to drive a truckload of snow down and dump it outside my door so I can at least make a snow pygmy, it would be appreciated.

In the meantime, this picture from three years ago will have to suffice.

It did snow here yesterday for about an hour but then it stopped and now we're left with a sort of thin crust of icy snow on the ground. I'm not impressed, but I suppose it's better than nothing.

The forecast says we're going to have sleet on the evening of Christmas Eve. Apparently the temperature will be 1°c, so hopefully if it falls just a little bit further to 0°c the sleet will turn into snow and then we'll have a white Christmas!

Edit: Just started snowing again! (3pm) it's beautiful but not really settling unfortunately.

Thanks Jake. I'm sure some of our 'townies' might disagree, but I think rural snow is definitely far nicer than urban snow.
