Re: Windows 7

Where can you get the upgrades though, im assuming these are from PC's bought from this month onwards. Amazon US are doing them. Apparently a similar programme will happen on Amazon UK and other selected outlets from July 15th until August 14th, while stock lasts. Quite how one can define Windows 7...

Re: Free microsoft software for students

I thought this might be of small amounts of interest to a subset of Metropol if they didn't know: Turns out microsoft is giving away various products for software development including VB, VC++, Visual Studio 05 and also its server 2003 and 2008 products free to students. Looks as though you have t...

Re: Windows 7

It's true what they say about first impressions: You never get a chance to make a second one. The default colour scheme for Windows 7 Beta is the blue scheme with the fish, which is similar to how XP comes out of the box. Many successful Windows builds seem to be based around the colour blue. Window...

Re: Re-installing Windows XP query

IIRC, due to the legacy nature of some system processess, it's impossible for Windows to exist entirely outside of C: drive. If you choose to install to another partition/drive, then the bulk of the OS will go there, but some core system files (including the bootloader) will still be written to C: ...

Re: Tumble Tower Watch News and Information Board

The man does not understand societal norms, takes things at face value or interprets them almost completely incorrectly and has a penchant for making unknowing passers-by watch him undress and take photos of it. Some would call him "eccentric", I'd call him a madman. If the guy has a rational motio...

Re: Tumble Tower Watch News and Information Board

And thank you for putting your trousers back on afterwards as well - I don't think the world is quite ready to see your knees. Why do you think that? 15 months later and sarcasm is still wasted on you. For your information, I am a human being, just like anyone else. *ahem* Just imagine me dancing t...

Re: Tumble Tower Watch News and Information Board

Who took these photos? A passer by on the beach, I asked that person to take the three shots of me. It was three poses one after the other. Note that although it was sunny, there was a bitter cold wind that day on Towan Beach. Me taking my tracksuit bottoms off to show my red shorts for the second ...

Re: Going back to university... maybe

I have had thoughts about actually going to University myself as I'm, well I wouldn't say unhappy but I wouldn't say I was happy either, in my current job as a computer technician. Like most, it has good points and bad points and I get to see and meet a bunch of really nice customers who like to lea...

Re: What's below 87MHz?

A lot depends on the location.

America uses below 87Mhz for TV channels.
Over here, business radio.
Apparently according to some bright spark on Wikipedia, we have amateur radio at 70Mhz aka "ham radio". Not the same thing as Citizen's Band radio which works on 27Mhz.

Re: My new wireless router

Hi All I have a new lap top and I have bought a wireless router. However when I connect it all up my lap top will not pick up the router. Can any one explain why? Usually because wireless is off on the laptop or wireless is not enabled on the router by default. Alternatively you're not giving the r...
