Re: The Price of Petrol

What a bizarre reading experience! I remember in our neck of the woods (NW London) we stubbornly stuck at around 99.9p a litre for over a year before finally breaking the barrier in late 2007, rising rapidly over the next 12 months...only to suddenly drop right back to 83.9 at the beginning of 2009,...

Re: Boundary Changes.

Ours is going to be very interesting. Before we were in Brent East, which for years was Ken Livingstone's constituency and a safe Labour seat. However, he left to become Mayor and an unfortunately timed by-election in 2003 - just months after the Iraq war began - meant a surprise win for the Liberal...

Re: Old Supermarkets(/buildings)

That Wembley Tesco has been my local for almost 15 years! I'd say it's actually got older-looking inside since then...back in the late 1990s there was a huge video screen (made up of lots of little tellies) on the wall showing the latest Simpsons video or whatever, except in silence so you couldn't ...

Re: Own-brand Cola

[*]Pepsi - pretty much perfect taste, shame about the price tag. Its formats equal those of coke though.[/list] The newsagent by me sells small bottles for 65p, and no they're not out of date. In West Bromwich they're 50p, sadly that's 100 miles away from me. Go into Central London and it's about t...

Re: How paranoid can you get?

Here's the website in question, still updated to this day: http://www.five.org.uk/index.html . The 'Evidence' page has lots of clips of people like Jon Snow and Nicholas Witchell playing evil mind games with him while presenting the news. He isn't looking at his autocue, his mind is off what he is r...

Re: TV Forum Watch News and Information Board

Oh so it's a bug. I've just spent the last several seconds being SHOCKED AND APPAULED that after eight years of loyal TV Forum service they go and ban me for no reason. But, erm, yeah.

Re: Pizza Hut Rebrands

The one pictured above is the one on Charing Cross Road, and was the only one I saw today that had been rebranded - the ones nearby in Leicester Square and Oxford Street were still proudly showing their Pizza names.

Wonder if we're going to see McDoughnuts and Baguette King next.

Re: Retro games you (used to) play

My first ever games console was a Nintendo Entertainment System, which took fecking great big cartridges the size of dinner plates. Duck Hunt and Super Mario were favourites on that, as well as Donkey Kong and Mario Golf. Saw a NES in a second-hand shop the other day, going for £25! Or should that ...

Re: Retro games you (used to) play

My uncle giving me a SNES back in 1994 is up there with my best Christmas presents ever, along with the Megazord from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. It had everything from Street Fighter II to Donkey Kong Country with it. Still the best console ever made ever. And Monkey Island on the PC! The second ...

Re: Zavvi

What I like about them is that all the prices are rounded to the pound, so none of this '£1.99' crap leaving you with useless 1p change.

I do miss Virgin though. I think the one in Tottenham Court Road has even got rid of the old 80s arcade machines they used to have on the ground floor, which sucks.

Re: Why and when did you join?

I joined TV Forum because it was the biggest and most popular forum I'd ever seen on the internet, as a precocious young 12 year old back in 2001. One of the few others at the time was the TV Ark forum, still on Bravenet (this was when most forums were Bravenet forums) where you'd get a couple of po...
