Jimbo does the same on DS. He's more known over there for his spelling errors.

Yes, his versions of words do make his posts somewhat difficult to follow on occasions.

I guess he uses a spell checker of some kind, as all his words are spelt correctly, it's just that they're the WRONG words.

In the world of television presentation, technical stuff is interesting - to have any interest and not do this as a job you need to be somewhere on a spectrum I've always thought.

However ringing the SD Switch-off helpline to ask their Christmas plans for the barker message is a new one for me. I don't begrudge Jimbo's efforts as that's his interest, but it does come across as a live update on whether or not a red graphic is being overlaid on a near dead/dying stream of a channel which can only be seen by around 160,000 households (and I'd guess a lot of those are secondary devices, rather than the main television). To say them not broadcasting it over Christmas is a 'nice gesture' I found it a bit strange, it must be said.

I’m especially enjoying the chat in the Gary Linekar thread about the “old days” when BBC stars were “responsible”, “innocent”, and “just focused on their industry and specialism”.

To which the suggested counterpoint is Lenny Henry, who had the temerity to establish Comic Relief.

A few days ago I was made so that all my posts have to be pre approved. I have no idea why, I've never received any warnings, or had any sort of messages from any of the admins raising any concerns, so I'm completely in the dark. After I asked why, one of the admins posted an "admin actions are not up for discussion" post in the feedback thread, which I assume was a response to me asking (which I still didn't get an answer to). If my posts are going to be moderated, I'd really like some sort of explanation why, or how long it's going to last. I don't feel like sticking someone on pre-moderation seemingly out of the blue and refusing to offer an explanation is the way to do things. A warning and explanation would have been appreciated.

A few have, but the last one that I noticed was the best part of 2 weeks before I was put on pre-mod (and even then, it was a reply to something else that got deleted). So it's a long delay if it is anything to do with that.

And even then, if that did have anything to do with it, I'd still have appreciated a warning I was making posts that could lead to me be being pre-modded. When posts are deleted, you don't always notice (or, if it was a reply to another deleted post, if your post was even rule breaking, or just removed because the original post was), so if we're expected to rely entirely on that to know if we've done something wrong, it's not the best way.

I can understand the admins not wanting to be too public (or identificable) after incidents on both the blue and purple places, but getting absolutely nothing after quite a strong restriction being put on your account isn't right either. I've always had warnings and explanations on other forums.

What I find funny is how the BBC lobby on there are oh-so-happy to stick the boot into Sky's new-look breakfast show. BBC Breakfast über alles, I guess!

Also the GB News cult are out in force today, desperately trying to spin how great the ratings are 🙄

It's really fun how Cando hates 24-hour news channels. Also his constant "it's 202x not 200x" refrain is really fucking tiring.

Okay, I know Pete's told you all over on the secret forum to put me on ignore. That's fine. I know you don't like it when anyone disrupts your delicate little clique. But is it that difficult to at least listen to an outsider? It's okay. I know where I stand. Bye for now. Xxx.
