According to TJTSW Channel 5 should allow the BBC to show the final episode of Neighbours at the same time, on the basis that it was first shown on BBC One.

I'm sure Channel 5 would be willing to commit commercial suicide for that evening by letting that happen. This has now progressed to thinking it will appear on BritBox at some point in the future.

BBCMeridian once again shoehorning merging CBeebies into CBBC onto the BBC News merger thread.

I know not everyone is as clued up on how television works but that post about Neighbours being simulcast on BBC One took the whole tin of biscuits in terms of cluelessness.

Also wasn't long before the 'they should simply axe the services I don't use' crowd turned up, which is always fun.

The notion that they should cut EastEnders episodes by 75% to save the BBC News channel did make me laugh - surely got to be up there in the TVF/TVLF hall of fame of insane ideas that are wholly divorced from an understanding of how anything works, least of all TV budgets.

I also enjoyed BBCMeridian implying that the merged channel not using 'good morning' and 'good afternoon' was unforgiveable and the biggest mistake BBC News has made, though, to be fair, I assume they meant to refer to the merger as a whole. But even then, I would say that editorial mistakes that damaged the BBC's reputation, such as Saville, McAlpine, Cliff or Diana, were probably worse mistakes on the whole.

These people don't understand that if even you axe EE, you still need to cover the hours left so it wouldn't save much if any money.

Honestly, it would more than likely cost more to produce all new stuff to fill the gap of a one episode per week EastEnders. What would you fill prime time Monday-Thursday with anyway? I have to say that a lot more of creative muscle goes into the streaming side of broadcasting these days.
