Agreed, she certainly deputises for him a lot and they would probably be looking (rightly or wrongly) for a female replacement.bilky asko wrote: ↑Mon 03 Sep, 2018 09.31 It may explain why the changes they made a few months ago weren't too radical - Sara Cox seems to be the front runner to replace Chris Evans.

I wouldn't rule out Simon Mayo.

Interesting that Claudia Winkleman is one of the favourites. Not necessarily known as a Radio 2 name (although she has done some shows for them) unlike the others in the running (said to be Liza Tarbuck, Simon Mayo, Sara Cox, Vanessa Feltz and Jo Whiley). Could suggest somebody knows something.
I love Sara Cox but don’t feel like she’ll get it. I’d guess Claudia, but Liza definitely in with a shot too.

She could form a double act with Ed Balls.
Sara and Ed.

So it turns out that the reason Sara Cox didn’t get Breakfast was because she was getting the drivetime slot.
The upheaval is so big that the cover of the new Radio Times is "What is going on at Radio 2?"
