The above is very true. My local bank branch had a major refurb for the first time in years - all painted differently with new furnishings, a complete refurb.

It closed a year later.

That wasn't the case for my local Santander which hasn't really changed from the Abbey National era, bar a change of sign. It's closing in June.

Barclays on the other hand did get a refit, but is no longer open on Wednesday's.

I see the new variations of the Big Mac, the Grand Mac and Mac Jr, have now made their way over here, although it appears they’ve renamed the former to ‘Grand Big Mac’ which seems a bit wordy.

I'm sure plenty of people here will like the advert for the Grand Big Mac, with plenty of shots of old McDonald's packaging and restaurant designs!

The Grand Big Mac didn't feel particularly 'big' to me, but is at a premium price.

I'm quite happy on the Big Mac and medium fries for £1.99 offer, which I've now been on every other Sunday for over a year.

All you have to do each time is spend a couple of minutes on an online questionaire about how dreadful their service was.

My £1.99 McMuffin and Coffee key fob is still going strong. Although I have my own vanilla syrup and squirty cream at home to avoid the 50p "special coffee" tax.

Things I have been disappointed by at fast food this week:

1) Burger King's Peppercorn potato rosti

2) McDonalds Cheesy Bacon Flatbread

I'll eat my hat if KFC's DHL contract wasn't significantly cheaper than the previous one. How many issues do we see caused by things being offered to the lowest bidder? This mess will probably cost them a lot more than they've saved.

Not affecting Northern Ireland, which appears to have a cross border distributor for KFC with the Irish Republic.
