Hello Limeys.

Is there a way I can make my iPad access the US iStore while I am here for a couple of weeks so I can pick up some US only apps? Currently it says naw.

I want to watch some catch up shows on the CW app, and also I was told I could get a TiVo EPG app from the US store which would work on my UK box when get home.

No laptop or pc while I'm here, so any solution needs to work straight to my iPad.

Thanks muchly.

Yes. You can. It's very useful to have.

I have a US and UK iTunes account, both of which I use in the UK and US. The trick is to set up a new iTunes account with a random US address, when it gets to the add a credit card detail skip that bit and go find yourself a shop that sells iTunes vouchers. Buy a $10 - 100 card and use that to top it up. I use it to get series and indeed films that come out over there far quicker than over here. There are places where you can buy legitimate iTunes cards online for an extra fee, eg a $50 card costs $60 but with the exchange rate as it is it's not often a bother.

I make a point of topping up with real cards when I'm over there and buy online if I run low and want something. The money doesn't run out and can be used on anything within iTunes, apps, films, tv shows and music etc.

Indeed. Actually, certain types of cards (prepaid cards, mostly) don't support the Address Verification Service (AVS), so you can use them, giving any old address, and buy as if from any country.

And you may be fascinated (or not...) to know that AVS only checks the numerical entries in your address. So you can enter any old crap as long as the right numbers come in the right order.

I will pop up to Walgreens later and buy a $50 card. That should last a wee while.
