I've got a lot of already converted Mp3's plus loads of CD tracks converted from vinyl, to convert to Mp3's.

While I can find programs to manually label Mp3's, is there such a program(free please!) that converts 'home made' CD's to Mp3's plus automatically labels the 'home made' Mp3's too?

I know the likes of Windows Media Player will, in most cases, automatically convert commercially produced CD's plus label them automatically, as it has access to an online database, but for those of us converting vinyl to CD to Mp3, will have to do it the 'long way' round!

I suppose I'm looking for something similar to Track Id/Shazam(found on some smartphones!) that you play the Mp3 into, which then outputs the file fully labelled as (name of track/artist).Mp3.

Any ideas?

Despite your horrific use of the grocer's apostrophe I shall answer.

Winamp can identify tracks on a per track basis and also convert into other formats. To identify the track right click and "send to autotag". (also works if you send the lot, and it'll fill in the blanks it things obvious and ask for ones it is stuck on)

iTunes meanwhile, whilst unable to identify tracks one by one, is rather nice and being able to neatly convert things with a simply right click and also, if required, organise the folder structure of your "My Music" folder according to the metadata.

TBH just with these two I've done nearly everything I've ever needed to do re sorting out metadata and conversion

Just tried what you suggested with Winamp & while it picks up the unnamed Mp3 tracks originally from CD correctly , it still won't label the Mp3's converted from vinyl correctly, putting a incorrect name for these.

Still worth a try.

That won't work as autotag is based on CD track length databases so anything you create yourself won't be recognised.
