3D Printer

I was shortly going to make a little purchase of a DSLR camera suitable for film making. It occurred to me that the same budget would buy me a kick ass 3D printer. One that builds from extruded ABS.

Am I being a bit rash here? I think there may be a way to monetize one - enough perhaps to recoup my investment. Perhaps with one of those 3D scanners. Self portrait flower pots? Meh, I'll think of something.

What say you?

I say buy the 3d printer and just print a slr camera. Two birds, one stone.

I have seen a few YouTube videos of the process and it's pretty amazing... I think the problem is having the skills to actually model the objects to print, I've dabbled with autocad and solidworks and it's heavy going.

It is exciting stuff though.

There's software with a lot of these machines which calculates support structures etc to assist the process.

The more I see on YouTube the more I want.

1. Buy 3D Printer
2. Print our 3D Metropol logos
3. ????????
4. PROFIT.

In all seriousness, buy it. If I had the money, I'd either buy a 3D printer, or a laser cutter.

Start a TVF Shop selling 3D channel logos (like the BBC cubes) and more advanced models like 3D scale models of Television Centre and The London Studios. Yup.
