as we use our mobiles for more and more, what are the apps that really enhance your life in some way?

and how do you have your home screen configured? share your masterpiece of customisation.

Here is my home screen - all of my most used apps


and a couple of widgets i love, firstly WeatherPro, a very reliable weather forcasting app, with an optional premium 14 day, per hour forecast (which i have, and is very accurate). the other one is the sunrise, sunset times.



i also have another app called SunSurveyor which gives you the position of the sun on a map, a live overlay on the camera so you can see where the sun will be in the sky at a certain time, which is very useful.

Another app that i use and find very useful is Endomondo which you can use to track your exercise, I do at lot of walking (i'm not a hardcore rambler, but i love exploring the countryside).

i've been using endomondo for just under a year and i think for a casual pastime, i've done pretty well:

nosenote: i have a samsung galaxy s2, android 4.0 phone. the 'lancher' that you see is Go Launcher, which i recommend if you have a decent spec android phone, it's lovely and highly customisable.

I've only took the plunge and got my HTC One S on Tuesday, so it isn't that different from stock, and I haven't really downloaded many apps, yet.



HTC Sense has certainly evolved from the days of the Desire, eh?

I'm always fascinated to see the battery indicators of other peoples phones. It must be a touch of OCD, but I get a bit freaked out if my battery goes below 60%. In my mind, 60% may as well be 2%.

My iPhone and iPad home screens are pretty vanilla, so won't bore you with generic layouts. I think I'm on the default everything, with some minor icon position swapping.

Despite HTC's perfectly adequate weather app, I had to get the Met Office one, merely for the weather warnings. It does seem to be more accurate at the moment.


The BBC News widgets are good to flick across to to make sure nobody has died, or that Nintendo hasn't gone bust yet:

None of these apps are exactly undiscovered gems, but I haven't had the luxury of Android until now.

Do you have a photo of yourself on your home screen?

I notice the full version of Angry Birds is only free on Android, and needs to be paid for on iOS. Any particular reason why?

However, the fact it is free on Android means it will now take over my life...

Ooooh I know the answer to this. It's because there isn't a easy way worldwide to purchase from the Andriod Market (well, Play Store now) so the developers decided to make it free on Android (however some phones now have it as an ad supported app). I will post some pics of my home screen in a minute....
