NAS Drives

Hello all.

Just a quicky...... Anyone else had any experience with NAS drives? I purchased a 2TB iOmega Home Media network drive with my birthday money and so far, all good - FTP and UPnP DNS sorted for remote access, all files transferred lovely over my wireless network. One PC with XP and one with Vista both able to see it absolutely fine, both with the built in software as well as drives appearing in My Computer. Plus it has built in torrent capabilities, which is nice!

Any quirks / problems I need to look out for, especially with regards to security etc? Also, with regard to remote access, should I consider a static, rather than dynamic, IP?

Give it a static IP on your router, with the relevant ports mapped through (or for slightly increased security use non-standard ports and map them in NAT to the real port). Many NAS devices have a Dynamic DNS client on board to make remote access easier.
