BBC changes mind on Asian Network

While I'm pleased the Asian Network is getting a reprieve despite the budget cuts, what does this mean for the rest of the BBC as a whole in face of the cost savings, additional responsibilities and (IMO the myopic) licence fee freeze?
It does make the BBC appear less certain on how it will evolve in the next few years; I can't remember a time when its future seemed so uncertain since the last time the Tories were in power. Plus ca change...
