The new Kindle?

So, after asking for hotel recommendations the other day, I'm looking at buying a Kindle, and would ask for your comments, criticisms and raves about the thing. I'm looking at the £111 Wi-fi only one, and am just enquiring as to if it is any good. I own far too many books, and shifting out of paper and onto Kindle would be useful.

So, is it any good, or a load of over-hyped twaddle?

I have the 3G version, but rarely use the internet function, I think you'll be fine with the Wi-Fi only version. I think they've really perfected the form and screen with this version, it honestly feels like you're reading real paper. They updated the software so the books now have real page numbers, something which makes it even better. I'd definitely go for it if I were you.

Ah, the addition of real page numbers is a really useful feature, so it sounds like they're adding useful things in, updating it and all. I'm seriously considering it, and the prices don't seem that bad, and I can get a 14 day trial on newspapers too.

I bit the bullet and bought one today, and really like it! The minute details like the noise of the page buttons shows the care tha went into it. And it is not doimg a bad job with the second hand on Metropol's clocks!

The battery after it's first charge lasted two and half weeks with Wi-fi on and connected for the pretty much the entire duration. Very impressed, being able to sort my books into collections and download and begin reading a book with-in 60 seconds all rather spiffy.

Samples of books work much better than the blurb, and some of the samples are quite chunky, giving you a reasonable insight as to if the book is any good.

Have played the 'hidden' games on it once or twice, but have mainly kept to reading with an occasional browse of the web. Am I the only person that likes the screensavers? Most people, including those the Kindle forum, seem to hate them!
