for practice joke purposes, i'd like to send somebody (well, a few people) a text message from a number which isn't my own.

anybody know of any good sites which are either free or reasonably priced ? and work?

The only ones I know append a little advert on the end of the message which gives a lot of the game away. Of course if you know any fellow Metropoller with a spare SIM which has x00 free texts a month, you'd be laughing.

Try http://www.e-txt.com/ for their free trial - brilliant piece of software, but you don't need to download it, you can use the Web Interface.
