Site Problem UPDATE

Have had a few reports and at least two examples of posts not working properly. Have fixed both posts in question but our MYSQL server seems to be on the fritz.
Have reported it to Dreamhost so hopefully it'll be fixed soon.

Coooeee,
The lovely Gary from Dreamhost has moved us onto a shiny new database server (goodbye "homie" hello "lassie") which has a lower load than our old one. So hopefully this should be the end of the rather too frequent Error 500 pages of late.
Do let me know if anyone spies any problems.
Thanks Gary, Thary.

would this be the reason why a post might not show in a thread, but shows in the search results?

if it was posted in the last few days then I am thinking yes. I had to redo a post of Nick's and a post of Alexia's.
Although the search index might have got corrupted in the kerfuffle.
Why has it happened again since the db change?

thank you pete, you know how you think you're going mad sometimes... i'd notice a few threads where posts had gone, so i did a search thinking perhaps they were in a different thread, and they listed in the search results, but when i clicked the link it was still missing in the thread. sanity restored!

Yeah the two I caught seemed to have been inserted into one table but not other parts of the DB (which was consistent with the timeouts). I couldn't fix them no matter what I tried so I actually had to delete them, post them as myself and then change the poster back to Nick/Alexia in the mod panel. Really really annoying.
This new server is much quicker though, things like resetting the stats and redoing the search index were far quicker than they'd ever been before.
