Is it my surge protector?

I have an iMac, speakers, external hard drive, USB hub, home phone and radio plugged into a 6-way surge protector. Within the past few months, the plugs have switched themselves off due to, what I assume to be, a power surge. Today, it went again, and just as I got it going again, it went down within seconds.
However, I also have a 10-way surge protector elsewhere in the house that consists of a Mega Drive, Xbox 360, Wii, Dreamcast, Hard Drive, Playstation, DVD recorder, Playstation 3 and gaming speakers. I've had this for a couple of months and it hasn't gone off once.
I know the amount of power should be put into question, but for the amount of times it's cut the power to an array of things, including a hard drive, phone and a tiny USB hub, and the fact that set ups for PCs require a similar amount of plugs, is it my surge protector that's at fault here?
Many thanks
