Is there anything specific about an external hard drive for a Mac book? Can I pick up a regular 1TB external drive and make it work?

Should be fine, so long as it's not formatted to NTFS. It'd still be fine, but you'd have to reformat it.

Thought that. My boss is trying to use one that already has Windows NTFS data on it. Duh.

Anyway, they're prepared to spend big money at the Apple place in Edinburgh so thats that.

Ta much.

Pffft at Sputty's external hard drive advice. ;)

Hours of my life I'll never get back from Amazon, even if they refund postage...

Mark, if you're too shit to have Amazon pick you out one that works that's HARDLY my fault ;)

They've decided on the Time Capsule - http://www.johnlewis.com/230729666/Product.aspx

Its only £234 quid.

Oh, I should say this is because there's a wee chip in the case of the Mac book - so they're sending it back to Apple and the owner doesn't wish to be without her 5GB of songs.

So yes, a 1TB drive should do it.

Are you NEVER tempted to embezzle from these people? Hell, I'm honest and even I want to take money from them.

Also: they DO realise that it's also a router, yes?
