Today, the Queen visited my home town and I was lucky enough to meet her. It got me wondering just what people's views are on the monarchy in this country. In all honesty, I also really wanted to share this rather lovely photo that I took with you all (which you can click to enlarge - how snazzy).

Personally, I support the monarchy. I think it's something we should be proud of. Yes, she has limited power, but from what I saw today, everyone had a smile on their face as she passed by, and I think that the capacity to make a lot of people very happy is a very good thing.

So, discuss. What do you think about our monarchy?

I saw her once. I like how she looks identical to all pictures of herself

I'm more bemused by the expression on the woman's face in the background.

i like our royal family. sure, a few of them are mad, but it adds to the charm.

i think they're pretty good value for money - i brought a diana plate from the sandringham gift shop a few years ago and even though i eat my tea off it every night it hasn't faded one bit.

Why?

I have a lot of time for Charles, he comes across as a thoroughly decent chap who will make an excellent King.

Agree with the positive comments by the way, I have no problem whatsoever with the Royals.

I like the monarchy. They're smashing.

I like how (apparently) Anne has been briefed on becoming the Queen of Scotland, in the event of separation. Imagine brother and sister on adjoining thrones.

The earn more than they cost, and they fascinate the rest of the world.

What's not to love about them?
