I wonder how much they have caught on tape from Cameron. I'm willing to bet there's a LOT. But of course, they have their own agenda, so I wouldn't expect any of it would see the light of day.

The ironic thing is that I watched the interview with the ill-informed old biddy. She had been making sweeping generalisations, was shifting from one question to another without listening... however Gordon did really well. At the end of it she was satisfied with his answers.

But I could understand his frustration. She was a twit.

Although he DID sound like an ordinary human being. Weird!

The question has to be asked, what has he apologised for, if he sincerley believes that he was wrong with the character judgement of Mrs Duffy then fine, but if he's apologising for voicing the comment it seems somewhat hypocritical.

It's clear from his mannerisms on camera on the JV show that he seriously realises that he's in the mire big time.

It's intriguing to follow some apologists for the PM online, who seem to concur that all deeply felt attitudes are bigoted, I'd personally say that the apologists are the bigots in that case.

That one also left a bitter taste, as he really didn't seem aware there was a camera ON him at the time.He certainly had the same body language before vine asked him the question about bigoted woman

As photocall ops go she WAS a NIGHTMARE. As I said, he had handled her well, but it was pretty exhausting to watch.

Notice Clegg squirming on the BBC at the mo as he's been asked if he will wear a BBC mic for the rest of the day.

The problem for him is that he didn't do anything wrong (apart from not realise that if you have a mic attached to you, only ever assume it's hot), so the best he can do is the classic "well I'm sorry it offended you", without being held up as hypocritical.

What I will find hypocritical is the other parties running with this as 'disrespectful' etc. when I'm quite sure they will have made similar remarks in private.

Oh, and as for Sky News,I emailed them last week to ask if they could explain how exactly a photo of Gordon Brown's crib notes in the debate came to be released.

They didn't reply.

I think you're right. The way forward would be to just be honest and say that he disagreed with her views on immigration within Europe - and perhaps should have told her this at the time. He should probably apologise for speaking ill of the woman behind her back, but on the point about Eastern Europeans he fundamentally disgarees with her and that point stands. I will freely admit it was pretty poor though - and quite cringey to watch him as he heard himself.

I did particularly liked his "Ach!" and "sorta" which came out in the tape. Why doesn't he speak normally more often?

Anyway, it was classic 'Mother's piss woman' off The Thick of It though, wasn't it?

The funny thing is watching the Sky/BBC ambush of this lady, it's almost as if she doesn't know what bigot actually means her "he's an educated man line" kind of implies she thought it was some kind of swear word.

He's got a week for people to forgot about it, which I think is about enough time.
