So, old Darling's came out with his Budget, with the main points being about the economy and housing. He's tried to help single mums and Jobseekers but that hasn't cam out so well. Overall, does this budget incline you to vote Labour? I know I am not convinced by this.

Seems more appropriate here than in the other place, so discuss!

Inflation + 10% on Cider... Labour certainly aren't going for the student vote!

(Although once you realise that it's inflation + 10% on the *duty* rather than the whole cost, and it works out at about 2.5p a pint it's not so bad!)

Re: Cider - maybe it's a Manchester thing but none of the students I hang/hung around with ever went for cider, they would go for lager at any cost. Even if it was Sainsburys Basics stuff.

Most people what a hung parliament, so it doest really matter we want:

no one want Gordon brown, no one wants George osbourne

How Darling's taxing Cider and isn't focusing on more important things. I think we might as well give Cameron the Keys to No.10 now.

To be fair, a lot of major lobby groups have wanted a tax increase on cheap booze. So he's doing what they want with cider and alcopops, and will make a bit of money for the Government too.

I don't think anybody *wants* a hung parliament, it's just one of the three likely outcomes of the election.

I was distinctly underwhelmed by the budget, to be honest. Very little substance, and more political nonsense than anything (I mean, come on, the dig at Lord Ashcroft - was that really relevant and necessary? Will it also affect fellow non-dom Lord Paul?).

David Cameron's response, on the other hand, was excellent, and exactly the sort of points he *should* be making a lot more louder than he has been. If this is how he is going to fight the election campaign, then he will win, no doubt about it. I'm more inclined towards the Conservatives, and it's more than a little annoying that they haven't been shouting loudly about the government's failings. I hope they keep this up.

Unfortunately in a hung parliament, Brown stays, at least initially

I hope they change the locks if/when Brown leaves, not let that toff bastard in.
