i thought i'd start this thread to be the central internet repository for all things related to the season spring.

it's been a most wonderful last couple of weekends, the breeze has taken on a gentle warmth and today must have been the warmest day of the year so far.

here are a couple of signs of spring from norfolk. let's see some from wherever you are.

As always, your photography skills astound me. These are some incredible photos!

I'll go out tomorrow and snap some of my own; we've got so many snowdrops this year. Beautiful.

Seconded.

The only problem with you starting the thread, Doctor, is that you make the rest of us ashamed to add our mediocre offerings.

thank you both for the kind comments.

i really like seeing other peoples photos - i like to see what natural wonders are around the country that i can stack up on my list of places to visit.

plus, as much as this will make me sound like a great big girl, i love flowers.

there is a field of daffodils (my favourite flower) not far from where i live but it's private with a house in the grounds that i'd just love to wonder around with my camera... i'm just hoping one of yous has such a wonder on your doorstep!

by chromic look, do you mean the tones of the image or the blurry, dreamy feel?

There was a bumblebee in my garden at the weekend.

See how crap my posts appear in the midst of photographic genius?!

(And we're having thundery downpours today. Still, I suppose that counts as spring weather. Perhaps they're April showers...)

These pictures are just beautiful. I'd have them as art on my walls.

In fact I was at Ikea on Friday and almost purchased a large canvas print of poppies for my new flat. I didn't think of myself as a flower lover, but it just called out to me. I stopped short of buying it as by that point I'd got to £400 worth of things (ouch), which was my budget.

But all things considered I would rather have yours.

With you on that Gav there are many of Dr Lobsters pics i'd love as prints for my home. His photos really inspire me to get the camera out. There are some magical beauty spots round my way, but as i am crap with a camera i would do mother nature very little justice. I could never capture the beauty of mother nature in a snap shot.

I absolutely adore the snap of Cuthbert

thank you mark, gavin and lorns for the lovely comments.

the most frustrating thing at the moment is that the weather is awful.

easter sunday we are supposed to be going to an easter egg hunt with my nieces nephews etc, which is always a fun photo opportunity - looks like it's going to be rainy. i haven't seen legendary jim bacon's weather forecast on look east (the only one i trust) but the bbc website says rain for this area.

if i get chance, i'll post some nice shots of flowers i obtained from a local dogging area.

Awful indeed. We've had 100,000 without power in Northern Ireland in the period since lunchtime yesterday , with 30,000 still off-supply tonight. Running things at work with generators during that period, not because we'd lost supply in the city centre but because of the number of dips and spikes in it. We didn't have too much snow around Belfast, though 300 people had to be rescued from the main road between Belfast and Londonderry when drifting snow blocked it. Main problem around here was easterly storm-force winds and 40 hours of continuous heavy rain which has caused quite a lot of flooding. Turning to ice now, as the temperature drops below freezing...

i have it on good authority that there is a "bored" thread on this forum.... in the event you find yourself in such a predicament, grab your camera and take some pictures of all those pretty flowers.
